Ruger Mk Ii Serial Numbers

Introduced in 1982. NOTE: In 1989, approximately 2,000 5.5' bull barrel Mark II pistols, with blue barreled receivers and stainless steel grip frames were produced by Ruger on order from a Ruger distributor. They exist in the 215-25xxx to 215-43xxx serial number range. The MK II ('Mark Two') was made from 1982 to 2005. It replaced the Standard, Ruger's first model, made from 1949 to 1982, and the MK I Target, made from 1951 to 1982.MK II variations include the Target models, which have heavier barrels and adjustable sights, and the 22/45 models, which have a polymer frame with a grip-angle that matches the Colt 1911 rather than the steel frame's Luger P08.

  1. After Ruger started making the convertibles in late 1959 or 1960, not real sure of the date, almost all Single-Sixes were convertibles. They made a few 6 1/2 in. Only and they made a few 5 1/2 in bl. Guns in.22 only. Anyone having a 5 1/2 in bl. Single-Six with only a.22 cylinder, needs to call Ruger to get a letter.
  2. Fortunately, Ruger makes an online tool available to Ruger owners to help read Ruger serial numbers and determine the weapon's date of manufacture. Access the Ruger website. The company's website link is provided below in the 'Resources' section of this article.

I did a search before posting and could not find what I was looking for.
I have acquired a Ruger Mark II Target .22LR with a serial number 210-87610. I am trying to determine what year this was made and approx value.
I have looked at the Ruger serial chart but could not find numbers starting with 210-***** ... any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

welcome to the Forum, I think you'll find those 'first' 3 digit prefix guns came into being in 1984................jumped from #19 to #210
I sold one of them in the MK512 ( 5 1/2 inch bull barrel) yesterday at the gun show for $275, the same serial number range, came in a yellow/black ,one-piece box and just ONE magazine

Ranger1 I measure this barrel at 5 1/2 ....

Looks longer 5 1/2' to me....maybe due to the small picture
Did you measure from the bolt face to the muzzle? Just curious.

I measured from end of barrel up to end of serial number. I get 6 7/8 from bolt face (just left of serial) to end of barrel
You gotta love us novices .... so officially what do I have ...
A Mark II Target or MK678 or are they the same thing .... ???

Officially, the same thing! You have a MK II Target Pistol, Catalog No. MK678.
If I'm wrong on the Catalog #, someone will be along to correct me.

The correct terminology would be measuring from the chamber to the end of the barrel. The bolt, when fully forward, will almost be touching the chamber (rear of barrel).

yes that is definitely a 6 7/8 in barrel, can tell by the 'taper' to the barrel, the 5 1/2 inch is a 'bull barrel' ...then there is always the elusive MK514 it has a taper also and is only 5 1/4 inch..but the picture above is of the longer one, NICE gun and a GREAT deal (bargain???)

I have one exactly like it. Put 250 rounds through it Sunday. They are deadly accurate!
You got a super buy on a semi-auto that will last a life time.
